Attention Fabulous SFX Families!

As you all know our annual SFX Dinner Auction is the most important fundraiser of the year and it takes the participation of all of our families to make it a success. In keeping with SFX family guidelines, every family is required to contribute $75 or a new Donation item or items valued at $75 or more. Some examples of Donations we are in desperate need of include: New Electronics, New Unused Housewares, Gift Cards, Gift Subscriptions, Gift Certificates (for Services such as Hairstyling, Make Up, Photography), Event Tickets, Sports Tickets, Sport & Entertainment Memorabilia. Family Donations are due no later than January 9. Families electing to donate $75 in lieu of a donation item will have it automatically added to their February 2017 tuition statement.

principals message
Dear Families and Friends of St. Francis Xavier School,
I hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday! Happy Advent! School is a very busy place! The students and teachers, along with the guidance of Mrs. Raymundo, are preparing for a wonderful Christmas Show! We look forward to all the merriment the season has to offer!
Liturgically, we are very busy over the next two weeks. We will celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday December 8 at 2:00 P.M. Please join us in the church if your schedule permits!
The following day, Friday December 9, grades three through eight will encounter the forgiveness of Jesus at reconciliation service from 9:00-10:00 A.M. This year we are celebrating in two prayer service shifts, grades 3-5 and then grades 6-8. Fr. Benny and I have created a plan that helps set a reflective tone for the students. We look forward to observing the children at the service.
This current week, and starting tomorrow, the students are scheduled to visit the annual Christmas Boutique sponsored by the Holy Faith Sisters and Associates in support of the Margaret Aylward Center in Pico Rivera. While the children enjoy a shopping experience, the proceeds go to offset the operational costs of the center, which is instrumental in assisting the needs of the poor. We thank you in advance for your support of the Christmas Boutique. It will remain open over the weekend!
The Academic Decathlon Team is putting in their study time under the excellent direction of the Sorensen, Flynn and Sanchez families. Every Tuesday and Thursday mornings, along with Sunday afternoons, you’ll find our decathletes preparing for the event on the horizon: The Junior High Academic Decathlon, which takes place in March! Hats off to the students and their efforts of preparation!
Congratulations to Coach Ward’s second trimester CJSF students! Their hard work over the first trimester of school has earned them membership! Please review the names of the CJSF students in the Lancer.
On Wednesday December 7 we celebrate the Mock Trial Team, as well as the CYO sports teams for fall 2016. We will honor the flag football and girls volleyball players. Please join us in Holy Cross Hall for 2:15 P.M. if your schedule permits.
On Monday December 12, the children come to school in red, white, green and blue jean alternative dress! The children must also bring their costumes for changing to conduct the dress rehearsal as needed. Due to the changes for the Christmas Show, room parent support for special snacks and activities are at the teachers’ discretion. You’ll be notified through your room parents about this matter. If your children are in After School Care, be sure to pack a lunch for your child so they are satiated until they are collected from school. Finally, the children should come to school on the mornings of the shows in their costumes.
As I said, it is a busy time! I hope and trust you are doing well juggling the demands of family and work. I also hope and pray that you get some much needed family time to help celebrate the Advent and Christmas seasons! God bless us all!
Sincerely,
Paul Sullivan, Ed.D.
